RE: Life of a real UAW Autoworker

A good choice Sur, my profession is construction and we can have a lack of sympathy for cushy jobs at times.
Ahh, here's the rub. In spite of my post, I'd never call the jobs cushy. They are factory work. It is manual labor, dirty and in the summertime it is hot. It is repetitive work.
How many years ago were you in a Auto Factory that was " Dirty & Hot " ?

RE: Life of a real UAW Autoworker

I would hate to see anyone loose their retirement benefits, there're many folks who worked both union & non union jobs that required the same strenuous work that your father did. Many, did not get the benefit package auto workers received, (coal miners, gas well digger's,concrete worker's etc..) and suffer many health related illnesses and can not qualify for any real long term medical assistance.
I think most folks see the faces of the big three (selfish) executives and not those of the worker's, I don't think that the work ethic's of UAW people are so much under attack. We're seeing some tuff times here in this great country and folks have been placed under a great deal of stress.
I think that folks who RV are so fortunate to have an alternative to get out for a weekend or longer and relieve some of that stress.:)

Got In !!!!! called today and secured the week of the 12/15. The reservation clerk said he can't remember the last time he saw a December opening this late in the year. :)

RE: Who Is Your Favorite NFL Team?

Well I was born and raised in Oakland,Ca. and was employed there for 30 years so the Raiders were my team. When they left for LA we had the 49er's across the bay, they're back but not the same.
I've since moved here to Prosper,Tx. where we have a few ex Cowboys as neighbors and Cowboy fans are everywhere. I can't see many Raider games on TV nor buy anything w/ Raiders on it so I guess I am a Cowboys fan but I always keep tabs on the Oakland Raiders.

RE: SWEETHEART VII RALLY,, KERRVILLE, TX Feb. 12 - 15, 2009

I just spoke w/ Jayne concerning the open " Sheriff " position for this years rally, after checking her notes from last years rally she smiled and said she would accept the position only if she could wear her " Taser Gun " to the late night card games.
She would also like to know if Bonnie could brush up on her first aid should she be elected " Rally Sheriff ".

RE: Camping at Wal Mart

Perhaps to avoid the blower you could sweep the spot before you set up "camp".
Every time we go camping at WM I have to do that before setting up camp. They need to clean the lots more often because it seems like every time we go camping at WM we get the dirtiest spot that nobody else wanted. Got a 4 day weekend coming up in a couple weeks, heading out to the WM in Colton for the long weekend. What WM are you guys going to for the 4 day weekend?

RE: Camping at Wal Mart

Unbelievable, in one of the worst economical times this country has experienced, we have someone staying free in a retail parking lot that was disturbed (enought to post) by a independent contractor trying to do a good job so that he could feed his/her family.
This is this guys livelihood, he's not there to assure you get a good nights rest.

RE: Salt Water Swiming Pool

Salem,
Many of the pools are going for a saline treatment of the water instead of chlorine. the joint re-hab facility had one. They used a saline or salt treatment in clean the impurities from the pool water. The saline is much more tolerable than chlorine to many. I bet that's what they meant. This type of treatment seems to be a new trend in pool chemicals.
Chuck, you hit right on the head, we have one and in addition to what you stated a salt treatment pool is easier to take care of and the water feels better on your skin w/o the chlorine odor.

RE: What is the worst Road you drove on?

I-40 in Oklahoma City, November 2004. We nearly went airborne. I had to hold our 19-year-old cat tight against me, lest he be tossed about in his carrier and injured. Glad the seat belts worked well...
Hope they finally fixed it -- we're going through there again next year.
I-40 in TULSA,Ok. , went thru. there returning from Branson, every lane was full of pot holes. It was hard to dodge them, can't imagine anyone driving over that road more than once. The bad part is that you can tell it's been like that for along time.
